Xmas Lights Make the Holiday Glitter
Sometimes Xmas lights are called fairy lights or twinkle lights here in the
Western United States. They are strings of electric bulbs used to decorate homes,
buildings, and trees, shrubs, bushes and even the occasional car during the
Christmas season.
They come in a dazzling array of colors and configurations and are oh, so
beautiful! Plus now you can get amazing solar powered Xmas lights or battery
operated Xmas lights as well.
There is something magical about the month of December. I love driving home from
work in the early evenings when people are just starting to turn their outside Xmas
lights on. It can bring on a sense of peace and wonder right in your own
backyard.
If there is a layer of snow on the ground or some falling snowflakes, it gives
this magnificent glow that seems like something out of a fairy tale.
Some people can't stand the cold weather and are not fans of Christmas, but I
love the entire month of December! Especially the nights when the Xmas lights
twinkle and glitter in the chilly night air.
Sure, Christmas Day is wonderful, but the magic of the season is only
intensified by all of the decorations. The malls are always decorated with
thousands of decorations and there is always festive music playing in the
background. Even the radio stations rotate some festive Christmas music to put us
in the holiday spirit.
One of the most important aspects of Christmas is the twinkling!
Getting the right Xmas lights is the surest way to show your family, the
neighbors, and the whole wide world how you truly feel about this joyous time of
giving and sharing, and that is the honest truth.
There are many assortments of decorations, from the simple to the magnificent,
but the key lies not in always finding just the perfect light strand or other
ornament, but in alternating them to really make your yard look spectacular.
It is much better to have a variety of different X-mas lights, such as the plain
white ones, the multi colored blinking ones, the xmas chili pepper ones that give a
southwestern flavor, and of course the ever popular snowmen, then to just have one
single type of lighting going around your house, no matter how pretty it may look
to you at the time.
Xmas Lights on Display
Of course, lights and Xmas decorating ideas can easily go together to create a
seamless whole that will make everything look excellent.
For example, a friend of mine incorporated led Xmas lights into a display to
create a very lovely and nice look for his whole yard. He simply took a giant
inflatable snowman and put him inside a cardboard sled that his kids helped him
build. The sled was decorated with a lovely string of white lights as was the
snowman.
Then, he strung multi-colored bulbs in front of the sled to show the path that
it would be taking with its joyous cargo of gifts for all of the boys and girls out
there. I have never really seen a xmas light display done so well.
And that was just the yard, you should have seen his house!
The entire front of it was completely strung with miniature snowmen alternating
with pumpkin bulbs left over from the last Halloween. Although it did not really
fit in with the theme, he figured that it would be a shame to let it go to waste
after all. It was beautiful, and demonstrated that decorating for the holidays is
not just a matter of stringing bulbs haphazardly about the place and letting them
go everywhere. He was far too clever for that after all.
